Each candidate had a different way of coping with the amount of time given to debate over the different political questions. Though they all skated around their questions, the men running for president appeared to do a better job getting their points across. They did have four more minutes to answer the questions due to the format of the debates. Obama and McCain had enough time to explain his possition and defend himself when the other was saying something that made him sound bad. Overall the format helped both of the presidential candidates and made their debate go well. The vice-presidential debate didn’t work quite as well with the same format. Having only five minutes collectively to debate over each question, the candidates had to scramble to try to fit everything they wanted to say into that time. Biden has done many debates in his life so he did okay with the time limit that was given. Palin on the other hand didn’t stay on subject for the majority of the debate. She needed a lot more time with some topics and had very little to say about the others. I think it hurt her in the end because she was trying to talk about past questions and it made everyone else impatient because she was off track and not answering what was asked. The vice-presidential debate was much worse quality and wasn’t as effective due to the format of the time constraints.
