The essay “We Can Afford to Give Parents a Break” by Jody Heyman was mainly an exemplification essay on why the government should have payed sick and maternity leave. She started with an introduction in paragraph one to clue us in on what she was going to write about. Then she goes into writing a very descriptive confirmation in paragraphs two through six, which gives us a fact then commentary. The refutation was where she wrote about the myths in paragraphs seven through ten that gave examples of some common misconceptions about what people think are other solutions to the governments problem with parents rights. In paragraph eleven, the conclusion gave some solutions that are reasonable and helpful to parents in the United States.
