Albert Einstein answered the question the best he could rhetorically, but left it with room for interpretation. He was the speaker. The audience was a young girl (Phyllis Wright) who was curious about Einstein. The subject was what he prayed for if anything and Einstein vaguely answered the question. The purpose of Einstein’s response back to Wright about if he prayed in the simplest way that he could, but he was incredibly bright so it was harder for him to convey what he wanted to say. He used logos a lot in the last couple of paragraphs to explain the connection between a supernatural being and the science of the world. The way Einstein wrote the letter created a sense of trust or ethos that made him believable. Einstein was the right person to ask that question to because of how well qualified he was in the credibility area. His pathos (emotional appeal) was obvious that he was trying to respect that the girl by simplifying it as much as he could so she could understand him.
